Excerpts from a Kanye West song:

"You know what the Midwest is? Young & Restless"

I beg to differ. You know what the Midwest is?
DENSE AND BRAINLESS

I notice a pattern here...
When did the UCI LJ page become another Bush-Bashing free-for-all? I can understand it if you want to post a few entries here and there supporting your ideas. But PLEASE, more substance and less derogatory phrases. If you want to insult someone DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I actually visit this page for information about UCI, not garage like your posts.

Re: I notice a pattern here...
Thank you.

I've got no problem with others' political views, but saying "the Midwest is dense and brainless" because it predominantly votes a certain way is not a political view.

Re: I notice a pattern here...
i would normally agree, and i wouldn't have written a post like that either (i don't think), but i hardly think supporting bush is a two-sided issue. it's plain ignorance. it wouldn't be political to say that the people who elected hitler were brainwashed or evil, and i think it's fair to say the same thing here.

however, it certainly accomplishes nothing to antagonize the opposition. name-calling won't get anyone anywhere. i think the graph is just depressing and the original poster was frustrated. so i'm torn about it, i guess. :/

Re: I notice a pattern here...
Clearly the use of the words "dense" and "brainless" completely detract from the substance of my post, which was nothing more than a hyperlink to a website that I'm sure some people will find either informative and/or interesting. Funny how my post about a joke on Conan, a comment about news coverage of a presidential candidate, and a link to an electoral vote predictor somehow constitute a "Bush-Bashing free-for-all.” It’s actually more of a one-sided hate fest on my part, along with a few short comments from others that see Bush as a figure that…leaves something to be desired in a president.
Keep coming with the reprimands - your constructive criticism means so much to me. I'm so sorry that you visit the community for actual information about UCI, and are bothered by my "garage,” since my posts are intended for the sole purpose of catering to the enhancement of your UCI experience. There’s always the ignore/block option.
I assume you meant “garbage,” to which I can only say that it’s a bit hypocritical as well as stupid to tell someone to stop using derogatory phrases and then proceed to label his posts as trash.

the midwest is alright. they got frozen custard which is ice cream but creamier and better. Chicago is an amazing town. The downside to the midwest is..driving. Driving across Nebraska is painfull, 6 hours of never chaning scenery. all cornfields throughout the state.

first of all, i'd like to say that i think finalhvn and dictatorycari are correct about the midwest. and i would like to thank you, mister finalhvn, for starting this. rather comical, i might add.

what i want to address is people trying to shut out other's opinions. if students want to bash bush, students should be allowed to bash bush. if it really peeves you, destined wind, go fox news on us all and start talking about why you don't want to vote for kerry.

the fact of that matter is that this is an open forum for discussion, and hell if it should be reserved for freshmen asking about residence halls.

Funny that you mention the freshmen, I was going to say in one of my earlier posts something along the lines of "At least getting people to argue about something is more interesting than 'I JUST GOT MY PAPERS 4 MESA CORT WHAT KIND OF SHEETS AND FRIGE SHOULD I BRING LOL!!11'every other post" but...I didn't.

You know...
...there's a difference between "wanting to shut out opinions" and "wanting people to have some decency/courtesy", isn't there.

Aren't you trying to shut out the opinions of the people who don't like Bush-bashing? If you don't like them complaining about you bashing Bush, feel free to not bash Bush.

Re: You know...
dude, you don't need to get picky with me. a user submitted a request to stop talking bad about bush and used the fact that this forum is for "uci issues as an argument". i am not trying to shut out anybody's opinion. i even stated that there should be arguments from the other side, so that a good discussion about politics can be fostered. and for the record, i wasn't bashing bush. please read posts before you decide to argue them pointlessly. thanks.
